Felipe Yung is an artist who became known in the streets as "Flip" where, for more than 20 years, he has left his mark and his colors wherever he goes.

 

Nature, vegetation, eroticism, urban calligraphy (tags and pixação), monsters, camouflage and a fascination for Japanese culture, especially calligraphy (shodo) and prints (ukiyo-e): these combinations of influences make FLIP an artist original and recognized both in Brazil and internationally.

 

This universe so characteristic has allowed him to work for major brands and influential people. For rapper Marcelo D2, FLIP designed the entire artistic project for the album "Meu samba e assim"; he also created the screenplay and set for the acoustic concert at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro, and participated in the visual identity of the rapper’s other tours. The work carried out by FLIP, for more than ten years, on the various forms of camouflage has materialized by the invitation of Nike SB for the creation of the “Camo Pack”: a unique collection including in particular a special version of the jersey. the Brazilian Football Selection. In the "Adidas Collider" project, FLIP was the exclusive representative of Brazil in the meetings bringing together artists from various backgrounds and from all over the world.

 

Outside of Brazil, among the many works carried out by FLIP, there is in particular the decoration of Sushi Samba restaurants in Las Vegas and London. The artist was also selected by the Embassy to represent Brazil at a cultural event in Moscow.

Between the artistic conception of concerts or magazines, between giant walls or intimate interiors, from a favela to a 5-star hotel or from a medieval basement to a high-tech terrace, passing through the world of fashion , Flip travels between underground and popular culture and the luxury market.

 

With Alexandre Cruz "Sesper", he created MOST, the first urban art gallery in Brazil which, between 2003 and 2005, enabled the development and recognition of graffiti. This underground gallery exhibited for the first time now recognized artists and thus marks an important step in the history of street art in São Paulo. Even today, FLIP continues its curatorial practice in the PICO gallery in the Glícerio district.

 

Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, Moscow, London, Osaka, Paris ... Felipe Yung has exhibited his work around the world. A special mention to his individual exhibition HENTAI (MuBE, São Paulo, 2012) and HANAMEISAI (Calmaart Gallery, Osaka, Japan, 2014).


Flip has also participated in various major events such as the first Graffiti Biennale (São Paulo, 2010), at the Tour Paris 13 (Galerie Itinerrance, Paris, 2013), Seiva Bruta (Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, 2009), TRANSFER (São Paulo, 2009), Ginzatropicália (Miami Art Basel, 2008).
