In this exhibition. Memory is a Vacuum, Herbert Baglione presents his personal experience with the near-death (NDE), referring to a set of visions and sensations often associated with imminent death situations, such as the projection of consciousness, out-of-body experience, spiritual unfolding and emancipation of the soul. Herbert and some of the people who lived the phenomenon report some experiences, such as the feeling of inner peace, serenity, the sensation of floating above their physical body, the sight of spiritual beings, the widening of various senses and the sensation of traveling through a tunnel brightly lit in the background.
These phenomena are usually reported after the individual has been pronounced clinically dead or very close to death, hence the denomination "NDE".
With 13 canvases (acrylic on canvas + spray paint + permanent pen and ink) and 45 paintings on paper (mixed water color, acrylic and ink) this exhibition presented simultaneously at BABEL SP and BABEL NY makes the viewer immerse themselves in media at adverse feelings of the artist, of exaltation, pleasure, internal conflict, delirium and even fear, in disproportionate intensity to which all feel only because they are alive.
